Children's Ministry

Your children are welcome at Journey Community Church! We have a great children's ministry, JourneyLand, that offers classes for children 6 weeks old through 5th grade along with special events throughout the year. Our classes are available every Sunday morning during our regular worship time. This ministry is made up of caring adults who love the Lord and have a passion for sharing His message with children. Every volunteer in JourneyLand has passed a background check and is approved by the leadership of the church. You will find our workers each Sunday wearing orange tee-shirts and nametags so they are easily identified by both children and parents. Our class curriculum offers fun, interactive lessons broken down into age-appropriate messages for each class. Every child is welcome to attend JourneyLand, whether you call Journey your home or are just visiting. Please see our check-in table in the back for more information.
Check-in
Every child who attends JourneyLand is asked to come to the check-in table before entering class each Sunday. There, we take attendance and make sure each child has a nametag to wear. Every family is given a check-in card which helps our teachers know which child goes to which adult. We also have parents fill out a short child information sheet that is attached to the name tag giving each teacher certain instructions about each child. Our check-in system is designed with safety in mind so that every child is cared for and free to enjoy their time in JourneyLand.
Children's Worship
The first Sunday of every month, in lieu of our regular classes, we have Children's Worship for children age 2 years through 5th grade. On these Sundays, children may sit with their families to worship together through prayer and music and are dismissed before the sermon for a special worship experience geared especially for their young hearts and minds. The children sing songs together, learn the meaning of these songs, pray for each other, and have a special Bible story and lesson. This time also helps all the children of our church to get to know each other and have a sense of unity as the future of our church!
Nursery
Our nursery is available every week to children ages 6 weeks to 2 years old. It is a great room full of fun, interactive toys and other materials especially for this age group. Our nursery volunteers are loving adults who have a special place in their heart for these youngest members of our church. While in the nursery, babies and toddlers listen to music, play together, pray with our volunteers, and have a great time!
Pre-School
Children ages 3-5 years old enjoy building friendships with each other and learning about Bible stories in our pre-school class. Through songs, puppet shows, crafts, and special lessons designed just for these curious minds, children learn about Old Testament heroes, the story of Jesus, and gain an understanding of God's love for them personally today.
Elementary
The Elementary class is a wonderful place for children in 1st through 5th grade to learn how to apply Biblical principles to their every day lives. Our curriculum is designed especially for the unique challenges these children face as young Christians in today's world. The lessons are
interactive and Scripturally based. This is a welcoming place for them to ask questions and deepen their faith with adult volunteers they can know and trust.
Special Events
JourneyLand allows children to participate in church events besides just their Sunday morning classes. We have children-led worship Sundays, holiday dramas, and are hoping to host vacation Bible school this summer. Throughout the year, we also feel its important to offer the children of JourneyLand the opportunity to get together outside of Sunday morning. At all church-wide parties and events, we make sure that there are special activities for children to participate in. This aspect of our ministry is growing each year as our church grows!
